At Bloom Community Cafe, we are passionate about bringing people together over delicious food and drinks. Our journey began as a small micro-cafe , and we have since made changes to our space so we can offer provisions, books, and a retail space for our garden center for a year round experience. We value partnering with local food producers for the freshest, seasonal ingredients in our dishes.
Our team consists of experienced kitchen professionals and restaurateurs who are dedicated to providing the best possible experience for our customers. We have a small start up team and are seeking quality individuals who share our passion to source nutrient dense, local food with real values for our bodies and our planet--we aspire to open up more hours for the community!
Our menu changes and is inspired by local and seasonal cuisine and what we can source. We offer a couple options for brunch, lunch, and after lunch, early dinner for the community 3 days a week. Our coffee & tea is ethically sourced, and we love to find local/regional food sources who are already on the scene to bring to our community cafe.
In 2021, the Bloom Community Cafe space was built and connected onto the existing retail space of Dragonfly Gardens in hopes of offering event space and a food program. Additionally, the retail space at DFG was also revisioned and altered to be open year round, with the add on of a space for provisions, and used books. Needless to say, it took awhile to make this dream come true alongside a robust garden center the owners operate and devote many hours to. Owners Peter and Alison have both had experience with opening new restaurants and operating them, and many years of experience managing high volume restaurants. Peter and Alison are passionate about local food, nutrient dense food, and sustainability practices associated with food. Peter and Alison are also former educators in higher education and are committed to ensuring our values match our actions. With a passion for a sustainable environment for all (especially our future generations!), quality sourced food prepared in a small scratch kitchen, and ensuring access to local food they set out to create a welcoming space for the community to gather and enjoy. Starting with just a few tables and chairs, Bloom Community Cafe is becoming a popular destination for locals and visitors alike.
Bloom Community Cafe has expanded to include a full micro-kitchen and a very small team of talented kitchen staff. We add new items to our menu and have continued to source our ingredients from local farmers and suppliers and change with the seasons We are growing and evolving while remaining true to our roots. Next up in our cafe and provisions is the addition of a summer patio, a secret garden with a fountain and small bistro tables, a micro-grocery store and our used book store (spaces being worked on now!). After we successfully navigate these new areas for the business we have ambitions to host special ticketed events, a buyers club, book club, vacation home rental with native gardens and access to trails and apple river flowage, and special themed literary classes. And, if the cafe becomes too much for owner operators to maintain, look for forthcoming co-authored book: Never Open A Restaurant.
At Bloom Community Cafe, our philosophy is simple: to provide our customers with the highest quality food and drinks in a warm and welcoming environment. We believe that great food and drinks start with great ingredients, which is why we source our ingredients from local and sustainable sources whenever possible. We care about our planet and we care about what we put into our bodies and yours. We care about our community.
